the suck factor of life balance, + passion as a cure to stress |
I no sooner want to be balanced than I want to be a “good” girl. “Balance” is not something I want to live down to.
- me |
If consensus is overrated, I think balance is too. I have no interest in living
a balanced life. I want a life of adventure.
- Chris Guillebeau |
In the end, the quest for balance is bogus. Love your burdens. Love them hard. And when your loves knock you down or your weak ankles trip you up, stop worrying about balancing – ‘cuz you’re not – and bounce.
- Kelly Diels

Life balance. Low fat cheese. Walking shoes. Small talk.
Life balance. The term makes me feel bloated and late for my own party.
Life balance. Stressful. |
The pursuit of balance makes us juggle. It puts us behind (always behind,) makes us guilty, neglectful, imbalanced. It’s as useful a concept as original sin. You can never get it right. |
I had to take a moment to honor the first woman director to win and Oscar, you go girl! | Oscars 2010: Kathryn Bigelow first woman named Best Director (video) |
Kathryn Bigelow was the first woman to be named Best Director for The Hurt Locker. The film also won the award for Best picture of the year. It seems nearly unbelievable that it took 82 years for a woman to finally win the award, however, it is a great achievement and one recognized by viewers nationwide. Amazingly, Kathryn Bigelow was up against her ex-husband, James Cameron for Avatar. |
| Kathryn Bigelow spoke about the win with E-Entertainment following the Oscars, you may view footage of that video clip in the player below. During Kathryn’s acceptance speech she said that there was no other way to describe the win but that it was the ‘moment of a lifetime.Read more at primewriter.com |
I wanted to take a moment and honor one of our Pinkies @StoneTosser who came for a visit and made her way back home this past weekend. We will miss you dearly and we appreciate you so greatly. Thank you, Dana. Just like we discover our true family once we leave home, we also discover our true home. |
Now there is no doubt in my mind that Northern California and Owning Pink are my home in truth. The logistics of locating my body and career here are likely to work their way out but even if they don’t, I know where home is and carry it with me always and forever (thank you, Internet, again!). This has been a fantastic year for me so far, finding both my purpose and my home. I can’t wait to see what’s next. |

I couldn’t help but smile, because I made the same remark to someone else, years and years ago. Somehow, without me even noticing, I became like he was to me. |
At one point in my life I realized that I have a choice to make. I can either choose to be sad and miserable, things that my physical challenges more than warranted, or I could be happy. |
It was as simple as that. |
And of course, I have sad moments. I have extremely sad moments at times. My challenges didn’t get any less. But with my perpetual happy state, I get back to my base emotion easily. It also helps me overcome challenges. It helps me to be strong for my mom for instance when she calls with another sad story about my dad. |

Technique Part One: Get outside. Find a peaceful place that you enjoy. I take off my shoes and stand barefoot (look for moss, it feels wonderful!). Relax and close your eyes. Imagine and visualize roots growing from your feet downward into the earth. Breathe deep and send them down farther and farther into the earth’s core. |
Technique Part Two: As you inhale and exhale slowly, visualize energy coming up from the ground and into your body (For me, the energy is usually bright white). Draw the energy up through your body Chakras. Let it rise through your Heart Chakra and down your arms. Allow the flow to rise again to your Throat, Third Eye and out your Crown Chakra. Visualize the energy leaving your body and flowing into the heavens. |
